Frequently Asked Questions
Please read through everything completely before submitting a booking form for an appointment.
BOOKING UPDATES:
I am currently scheduling appointments for October-December 2024
Thank you!
How do I book an appointment?
I book via a form on my contact page. Once you’ve submitted the booking request further communication is done via emails, so please make sure your email address is 100% correct before hitting the submit button. My first reply email has been going to people’s spam or junk folders, so please be sure to keep an eye on those as well! Sending your reference photos or a photo of your tattoo that we’ve been working on to my email (Brenna.rose.tattoo@gmail.com) once completing the contact form seems to help your email recognize mine, and helps to avoid my email ending up in your spam folder. If you do send an email ahead of time please include your full name and mention that it is for a booking form.
Please understand that booking does take me some time and it may be a bit before I am able to email you back. Your patience is very much appreciated.

Please read through the FAQ page, and visit the Contact page to book.
Thank you!
What kind of tattoos do you do?
I Specialize in color illustrative tattoos, and primarily tattoo imagery related to flora/fauna, insects, antique jewelry, mythology, and tarot.
If you have other ideas as well I’m happy to go over them with you to see if I’d be a good fit for it! These are just some of the things I do often.
I do not do any tattoos that have malicious intent, whether it’s racist or misogynistic in nature, gang related, or otherwise hateful.
Do you do coverups?
I take coverups on a case by case basis. Usually I do not do large scale coverups, only smaller ones, and I do require complete creative freedom with them (though obviously we will talk about subject matter and such).
They do usually need to be at least 2-3x larger than the original tattoo, and usually have to be darker to cover well. I do recommend a few rounds of laser initially for a better chance of covering it well if it is a very dark tattoo. If I do not feel that I would be a good fit for the coverup I will let you know.
Do you have a cancellation list?
I don’t keep one, but I do post last minute openings to my Instagram story which everyone is always welcome to inquire about.
Do you take walk ins?
At this time I do almost everything by appointment only. If I do have time for walk ins, it will be posted to my Instagram story.
Do you charge hourly or per piece?
I do charge an hourly rate. For myself I’ve found this to be the most fair to both myself and my clients (though other methods do work well for other artists).
My rate in Portland and for travel is $200/hr.
What is your minimum?
My minimum for small tattoos is $175 in Portland and guest spots.
Do you do touch ups?
I do offer free touch ups for most of my work as long as you’ve taken care of it correctly and contact me within a year after receiving your tattoo. I do not offer free touch ups for hands or feet but I do have a small flat fee.
For touch ups please fill out the form on my contact page, there is an option just for touch ups.
You must be 18 or over in the state of Oregon to receive a tattoo, and be able to present a valid driver’s license, ID, or passport. A valid form of photo ID is required at the appointment. In states that allow minors to receive tattoos with parental consent I still do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18.
What is your deposit policy?
A deposit is required to book an appointment, and is due upon setting a date for your appointment. Deposits are $100-200 depending on the size of your tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable, however it does go towards the final cost of your tattoo as long as there has been no cancellations and have not rescheduled within 48 hours of your appointment. If you cancel your appointment entirely or contact to reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment your deposit is forfeited and a new one is required to schedule again.
If you have multiple appointments booked only one deposit is required, but it will not come off the cost of your tattoo until the final appointment you have scheduled. The same policies still apply, if you cancel an appointment or reschedule within 48 hours of the appointment a new deposit is still required and the old one is lost.
I can reschedule you twice before the deposit is forfeited and I would require a new deposit for the appointment (total of three different appointments).
If you are more than 15 minutes late your deposit is forfeited. It does help if you’re a bit early (just like 10 minutes or so) to fill out paperwork so that it doesn’t but into your tattoo time, so please don’t be late. If you are later than 15 minutes the appointment may have to be rescheduled as well if I no longer have time since I typically do book multiple clients a day. If you are running behind for some reason, please just message me to let me know. Traffic can be heavy in Portland so please be sure to leave yourself some time.
If you fail to message back to reschedule your appointment within a month of contacting me to reschedule, your deposit is void and I do require a new deposit to book again.
How can I leave the deposit?
Deposits can be made via Zelle, Venmo, or cash. Zelle and cash are both preferred, I am moving away from Venmo due to fees whenever possible but still accept it when absolutely necessary. Zelle is free to download and works with most banks. Venmo is also free to download and works with a larger variety of banks.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND A DEPOSIT BEFORE I GIVE YOU MY USERNAME FOR ZELLE OR VENMO. I have different usernames for each one and do not use a phone number for either one.
Can I pay digitally at the appointment?
Cash or Zelle are preferred. I do accept card and Venmo, however they both charge a fee for me to use them so I do try to avoid them when possible.
Do I need a consultation?
The info on the booking forms I use actually covers most of the information I need, however if I feel I do need to go over it a bit more in depth with you I will ask you to come in or I am happy to schedule one for you if you ask for one.
Will I be able to see the sketch for my tattoo before the day of my appointment?
Unfortunately I do not send drawings out in advance unless I feel I need to approve some quick layout sketches, however it will be ready to view and make minor changes to at your appointment. Sadly people do occasionally take the artwork and go elsewhere if they’ve received the image digitally in advance and I try to protect myself from this as much as possible.
Can I make changes to the design before the appointment if I’m unhappy with something?
I do set aside some time at the appointment for small changes, but if we have to change a significant amount we may have to reschedule your appointment for a later date in case it takes longer than the amount of time laid aside for your appointment. To avoid this, please make sure to let me know exactly what you’re wanting in your emails and/or consultation and let me know if there are any design changes you’re wanting to make as soon as possible.
I do not allow drugs or alcohol to be consumed before or during the appointment.
Drinking especially affects the tattooing process and healing process. Please avoid heavy drinking day before your appointment, and while you’re healing. If I notice that you are impaired at your appointment I will end the session and your deposit will be forfeited.
Should I have something to eat before coming in?
Absolutely! Please make sure you’ve had a decent meal and are hydrated, it does help during your tattoo appointment. .
Can I use numbing cream?
I do not normally allow the use of personal numbing creams prior to a tattoo. If you come in with it on or apply it before I begin tattooing (if we have not spoken about it and agreed on it’s use prior) I will reschedule the appointment and your deposit will be forfeit. If you get to a point you cannot sit through a tattoo I do have some available, but it is a last ditch option. Most numbing creams and sprays have a multitude of affects that I just would rather not deal with.
